TBR understands Manchester United were in attendance at Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League win over PSG.

Sources have confirmed to TBR that United were represented by scouts assessing their own man in the shape of Jadon Sancho. It is understood that United, like other clubs, maintain a watching brief on their loan players – particularly the high-profile ones – to assess their progress.

TBR has previously revealed that Sancho’s desire is to remain with Dortmund and that a loan deal remains the most likely scenario – but United refuse to totally rule out the prospect of his return to Old Trafford, be it this summer or even beyond that.

Sancho has looked reinvigorated at Dortmund since arriving on loan during the January transfer window.

The 23-cap England international has registered five goal contributions in 15 starts and was the star of the show against PSG on Wednesday evening.

The 24-year-old wants to stay beyond this season but Dortmund will likely have to stump up a substantial outlay of cash to complete a permanent deal.

So a loan seems most feasible, though, it has not been confirmed if United will be open to sanctioning another temporary deal for their £73m signing.

Should they allow him to return to the Bundesliga club on loan again, this time next year he’ll be approaching the final 12 months of his Old Trafford contract, thus reducing his value.

That said, it’d be surprising if United chiefs did sanction a second loan.

A lot will depend on Erik ten Hag

With Erik ten Hag‘s Man Utd future remaining in the balance, it makes it difficult to predict Sancho’s next move.

As it stands, with ten Hag remaining in post, there is little to no chance of a United return, given the pair’s well-documented bust-up.

Though, if the Dutch boss does depart, with Jim Ratcliffe potentially keen on bringing in his own manager, it opens the door up for Sancho to reignite his career in Manchester.

Lots of twists and turns are likely to ensue over the coming months as a telling summer transfer window will reveal all.
