Well-renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano has just shared a really bad new manager update for the West Ham United fans.

There will now almost certainly be a new West Ham United manager in the London Stadium dugout next season.

David Moyes has shown us all that he’s not capable of taking the Hammers on to the next level, and he will be moved on at the end of the season according to reports.

West Ham’s disastrous fall from grace in 2024 has been underpinned by Moyes’s archaic tactics and negative approach to games.

This season could have been a magical one for us, if we would have kicked on after the turn of the new year.

All we needed was a strong January transfer window, and for the gaffer to show some real ambition with his tactical setup.

But no – neither of those things happened. The Hammers have regressed badly over the past few months, and our season has petered out into nothing more than a damp squib.

Now Moyes is set to pay the price for that, but who will come into the club to replace him?

Truly terrible new manager news for West Ham fans

All we ask for is a young, ambitious, exciting and attack-minded coach to be given the Hammers job this summer.

He doesn’t have to be a serial winner, or a big fancy name.

However, it seems like the Hammers owners haven’t got that memo, with a move for former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui being lined up to replace Moyes this summer.

And the latest claim from Romano has a really ominous feeling about it…

According to Fabrizio Romano via Caughtoffside, West Ham now have a free run at Julen Lopetegui this summer:

“Lopetegui was also in advanced talks with AC Milan, but the deal was never sealed or signed. He was shocked as the board decided to leave the negotiations because the fans reacted in a very negative way to the news.”

“After having such a knock back, it wouldn’t have been a surprise for Lopetegui to sit back and take stock of everything, however, he was immediately courted by one Premier League outfit it seems.”

“Rumours have seen Julen Lopetegui placed on Manchester United’s radar but guys, let me say that Lopetegui is on West Ham’s shortlist for sure, but I’m not aware of other Premier League clubs making contact at this point.”

Well, that’s just terrible news isn’t it! In my opinion, Lopetegui is one of the worst candidates to replace Moyes.

In fact, if given the option between the two I think I’d stick with the Scot, and that’s saying something!

Lopetegui is a pragmatist by trade and the football that he implements is tedious to watch. We need a fresh change at the London Stadium, and the 57-year-old Spaniard will not be able to deliver that.

The new West Ham manager should be Ruben Amorim or Paulo Fonseca if you ask me. If Lopetegui gets the job, it will be the most uninspiring appointment we could make.
