Sesko twist, new rivalry - Three things that will happen to Arsenal amid new Jurgen Klopp role

Arsenal could be impacted by Jurgen Klopp returning to football after taking up new role with Red Bull

Jurgen Klopp might have left Liverpool but less than six months after his departure and he has already become headline news in the sport once again. One of Mikel Arteta’s main rivals during his tenure with Arsenal, Klopp has taken up the role of Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull in move that has angered plenty of supporters.

The frustration sparked particularly in Germany where Red Bull are maligned by fans of rival clubs. Borussia Dortmund’s former coach, Klopp, joining them has broken something for plenty as shockwaves were felt throughout German football at the news.

Yet, those waves will spread into other nations and leagues, including the Premier League and Arsenal.football.london address from an Arsenal view the impacts we see materialising from this astonishing headline story.

Arteta vs Klopp reimagined

During the time that Klopp was manager of Liverpool, he and Mikel Arteta shared some frosty moments. Most notable was their spat at Anfield on the touchline after Sadio Mane and Kieran Tierney clashed.

Klopp retired with six wins, three draws and five losses to Arteta, just edging the head-to-head. Yet now a new type of rivalry could begin as three sides could yet come into contact with the Gunners across a couple of competitions.

Red Bull now have a minority stake in Leeds United and should they get promoted back to the Premier League, or if a cup tie is drawn they will again face Arsenal. Equally, RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg are both regulars in the Champions League where Arsenal could come up against the pair who will be getting plenty of transfer advice from Klopp in his new role.

Benjamin Sesko transfer twist

Arsenal were keen on RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in the summer but the Slovenian international instead signed a new contract as any potential move to the Gunners could not materialise quick enough. Yet football.london understands that Arsenal remain watchful of Sesko and that pursuit could be reignited in the future.

Yet could Klopp’s presence have an effect on the move? Sesko is arguably Red Bull’s prize young asset and is set to earn them their next massive fee.

Could Klopp and his link to Liverpool make any move from the Reds an easier process compared to if Arsenal make another move? There is definitely a feeling that with Darwin Nunez’s struggles a striker might again be on their wish list.

Liverpool drain

On the flip side, could Klopp’s links to Liverpool prove detrimental to the Reds? Red Bull Salzburg have already signed a couple of young players with Stefan Bajcetic joining on loan and Bobby Clark arriving on a permanent deal.

Arsenal could watch on as one of their main rivals at the senior and youth level lose yet more talent regarded highly by Klopp and recommended to the Red Bull recruitment team. That said, it could also see a financial boost brought to Merseyside allowing them to spend elsewhere – perhaps one that will be revealed in the long term.
