Raheem Sterling has been spotted "looking sharp" in Arsenal training. The 29-year-old made the deadline day loan move to the Gunners from Chelsea after being frozen out by Enzo Maresca.

Although Sterling won't be able to make his debut after the international break, he has been working hard and getting to know his teammates on the training field. A number of first-team players - including Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, David Raya and Martin Odegaard - are away with their respective countries, but there are several that have remained with the Gunners during this two-week period.

Sterling is among them that didn't get called up for international duty and has been spending the last couple of days on the grass with the Gunners. In a video on Instagram, Arsenal posted a short clip on Thursday of Sterling in action alongside the likes of Leandro Trossard, Jorginho and Gabriel Martinelli.

That video showed Sterling looking in tip-top condition and seeming determined to get back to his best after a difficult couple of years. In one move, Sterling showed tremendous acceleration to burst past his marker before slotting beyond the goalkeeper with his left foot. He also appeared to link up on a couple of occasions with Trossard - something that could be repeated this season.

It's important for Sterling that he has an excellent campaign with the Gunners as he tries to cement his place in the England squad - and that video does feel that Arsenal are sending a message to the Premier League that he is going to be back. Sterling could make his debut against Tottenham on September 15.

Speaking on his move to Arsenal, Sterling said: "I'm buzzing. It's one where we left it late but it's one I was hoping for. Looking at everything, I'm just like: 'this is a perfect fit for me', and I'm super happy that we got it over the line.

"It's a perfect fit for myself to be at a football club like this, where you can see that hunger, that desire, year on year, they are pushing and pushing and pushing. That’s exactly how I am as a person.

"Each year you want to get better and do better than the previous year. Hopefully I can gel really well with the boys and get going. It’s time now to meet the boys, get settled in and hopefully now see some game time and make my mark."
