Jose Mourinho wasn’t the greatest Tottenham manager in recent history.

The Portuguese gaffer didn’t manage to win a trophy with Tottenham and he was sacked within 18 months of being appointed to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

However, he did have a serious impact on certain players’ careers, including Heung-Min Son.

The South Korean was fantastic under Mourinho’s tutelage, and now, speaking to EA Sports FC, Mourinho has had an interesting claim to make about Son.

Jose Mourinho’s claim about Son

Mourinho made an interesting claim about the £22m attacker, claiming that he could play for any top club including Liverpool.

“I don’t look at Son as a Korean player. I look at Son as one of the best players in the world. Maybe Tottenham supporters aren’t going to be happy with what I’m going to say, it’s not disrespectful.

“He could win titles, he could play for the best teams. He could be playing in England for Man City, for Liverpool, for Chelsea. It could be abroad playing for one of the top teams.

“He has that modern mobility of the attacking players. He can play through the middle, from the sides, wide to coming inside.”

Heung-Min Son deserves trophies

Heung-Min Son will leave Tottenham Hotspur as an absolute legend, but he would have every right to feel disappointed if he finishes his career without a single trophy to his name.

The attacker is one of the most talented players in the Premier League. He absolutely deserves to have winners’ medals around his neck.

Unfortunately, Son has been unable to win any titles at Spurs, and, much like Harry Kane, there has been chat about whether or not Son should move to find success elsewhere.

It may be too late in the day for Son to get a move now, but, as Mourinho says, he’s certainly good enough to play for any top club.
