Manchester City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck has agreed to join Barcelona at the end of the season as a free agent.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Manchester City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck has agreed to join Barcelona at the end of the season as a free agent.
The Athletic report the 24-year-old has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Spanish giants and will compete for the starting spot against Spain's World Cup winning keeper Cata Coll and back-up Gemma Font.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Roebuck will depart City after a complicated season where she has yet to figure at club level and featured just once for England before being omitted from subsequent squads.
In March she revealed that had suffered a type of stroke, but was confident it would not effect her brain function or eyesight in the future.
DID YOU KNOW?
Roebuck will join fellow Lionesses Kelly Bronze and Keira Walsh in Barcelona. Toni Duggan and Chelsea Ashurst have also represented the Blaugrana and England in recent years.
WHAT NEXT FOR ELLIE ROEBUCK?
Roebuck is unlikely to be involved as City continue their WSL title challenge this weekend when they look to extend their lead over champions Chelsea with a win over Bristol City.
