Newcastle United’s hopes of keeping Bruno Guimaraes this summer have just become even stronger.

The 26-year-old is set to be a man in demand, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs interested in signing the Newcastle United midfielder.

And they will have a chance to do just that, with Bruno Guimaraes boasting a £100million release clause in his contract. However, there is a catch. Eddie Howe has confirmed that the release clause can only be activated for a short space of time – from the end of May until the start of the final week in June.

Clubs have a short window to sign Bruno for a set price, which could mean there is a bit of a mad dash for any team that wants to do a deal.

The clubs interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United

Heading into the summer transfer window, there have been three standout suitors for Bruno. From the Premier League, Arsenal and Manchester City are keen, with suggestions they could go head-to-head to sign him like they did for Declan Rice last year.

Further afield, Paris Saint-Germain have been cited as the ones to watch. They have also been interested in the Brazil international, and have been linked with signing him for a long time. In fact, there has been regret in Paris that they did not nab him before his move to Newcastle United.

PSG have been seen as the big danger in this transfer saga, but it appears that they are already bowing out.

Update on PSG’s interest in Bruno Guimaraes

That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs on X, who has provided an update on PSG’s summer transfer plans following their Champions League exit.

He has stated that it will be a busy summer for the Ligue 1 giants once Kylian Mbappe leaves, but it will be a busy summer that does not include Bruno Guimaraes.

Jacobs wrote: “Understand PSG are now no longer in the conversation for Bruno Guimarães. No plans to trigger his release clause or negotiate with Newcastle.”

Newcastle suddenly in an even stronger position

With PSG suddenly out of the race, Newcastle United are in an even greater position of strength.

Not only is Bruno’s release clause only active for a month, but now there only appears to be two clubs chasing his signature – and two clubs that are surely unlikely to spend £100million on one player before the upcoming PSR deadline on June 30th.

It is looking more and more likely that Newcastle will be able to retain the services of Bruno for another season. That will delight Eddie Howe, who is desperate to keep his top stars such as Bruno and Alexander Isak.

The latter is also a target for Arsenal, although that is another deal that is surely not financially viable for them.
