Alan Shearer knows a thing or two about football, and he’s now dropped his prediction as his beloved Newcastle United travel to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
This has all the makings of a fascinating encounter. Newcastle have switched to an even more aggressive high-press style, which has caused Arsenal and Chelsea plenty of problems.
We have our way of playing football at Nottingham Forest, and very few sides have been able to match it this season, with Nuno Espirito Santo tactically spot on so far.
The fact that Alan Shearer predicted for Nottingham Forest to be relegated now looks rather silly, and what better way to rub it in his face by securing European football.
Interestingly, Shearer has now issued his prediction for Sunday’s clash against Newcastle, and it looks like we will have to prove him wrong slightly once again.
Alan Shearer was right last time out when he predicted Nottingham Forest vs West Ham to be fair to him, as Chris Wood bagged a goal and it was a dominant display.
However, there’s his love for Newcastle United on the line this time round, but it doesn’t seem as if he’s let that get in the way of his prediction too much.
When speaking to the Metro, Shearer has opted for a draw between Nottingham Forest and Newcastle, but admitted his gut feeling is a win for the Magpies.
“A trip to the City Ground is a tough game for Newcastle at this moment in time.
“Chris Wood is in the form of his life, scoring again last week and Forest’s two centre-backs are also both impressive; Murillo and Milenkovic have formed a real partnership there and they had a really good win against West Ham.
“Newcastle were brilliant against Arsenal and back to their normal selves once again and if they were back at home, I’d be tempted to say Newcastle will win, but I’ll go for a draw at the City Ground.”
Nuno Espirito Santo has a big decision to make when it comes to Elliot Anderson.
Anderson has been a key cog in the Nottingham Forest machine up until this point, providing the most assists for his teammates.
We even spotted Anderson’s masterstroke decision to tell Ryan Yates to block off a West Ham player for Callum Hudson-Odoi’s goal last weekend. He has the footballing brain of a veteran.
However, it’s not easy to know who to drop. Nicolas Dominguez has been nothing short of sensational for Forest in recent games, forming an unbreakable partnership in the middle of midfield with Ryan Yates.
Morgan Gibbs-White’s return to action saw Anderson drop to the bench last time out, and Newcastle provide a great attacking threat, so it’s hard to see where he fits in.
With it being against his former club, perhaps Nuno will try and take the emotion out of the game by bringing him off the substitutes’ bench, or he could go the other way and feel he has a point to prove.
