Arsenal are looking at strikers in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are trying to bolster their frontline, and they want a new number nine through the door before the end of the month.

Evan Ferguson has also been linked to Arsenal, and according to Mike McGrath, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Ferguson’s situation could well develop in the coming weeks.

Indeed, the journalist says that Ferguson could leave right at the end of the January transfer window as Brighton are waiting to see how Danny Welbeck’s injury pans out before making a final decision on letting Ferguson go.

Evan Ferguson could leave late in January

McGrath shared what he knows about Ferguson and his status at Brighton.

The journalist says the Irishman could leave right towards the end of January, claiming that Fulham, West Ham and Spurs are suitors alongside his recent links to Arsenal.

“Evan Ferguson. I touched on this earlier in the show. It’s going to be really interesting. They’re waiting on Danny Welbeck and how he returns from injury and whether he returns from injury. It will be really late in the window when they make a decision on that and whether he’ll be allowed out.

“Fulham like him, Potter worked with him at Brighton, Spurs are in that bracket of clubs as well.”

Ferguson may well get a move towards the end of the January transfer window, but the question is, why would any of these clubs want to sign him?

Arsenal, Fulham, West Ham and Spurs are all suitors, but most of those teams have better striking options already.

West Ham are the exception to the rule here, and they could probably do with the £60m-rated man.

Arsenal could use Ferguson for depth after Gabriel Jesus’ injury, but he’s not going to change the course of the title race after scoring just one goal all season.

Whether or not Ferguson will be allowed to leave Brighton remains to be seen, but if he is made available towards the end of the window, any clubs considering this sort of move should tread carefully.
