Greek side AEK Athens have approached Anthony Martial with a sizeable offer to sign the former Manchester United forward.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Martial, who left Manchester United this summer after his contract expired at the end of the 2023-24 season, remains a free agent. While the summer transfer window was still open, the striker was linked with two Champions League clubs as Atalanta and Lille reportedly showed interest in the French forward, however, neither of the deals materialised.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Now SPORT24 reports that Greek Super League giants AEK Athens have approached the ex-United star with an offer that would make him the highest-paid player in the club's history. The offer reportedly is more than what former Spurs player Erik Lamela currently earns at the club, €2million (£1.7m/$2.2m).
DID YOU KNOW?
However, the report also claims that Martial might not be tempted to move to the Greek league at the age of 28 as he could wait for offers from Europe's top five leagues.
WHAT NEXT?
Along with the winger, AEK Athens are also eyeing a move for Chelsea outcast David Datro Fofana who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this season.
