Arsenal star Declan Rice is one of the best midfielders in the world.

The England international became a star during his time at West Ham. He was already brilliant there, but he has gone up to a whole new level since leaving them.

Arsenal signed Rice for a club-record fee in the summer of 2023, and the 25-year-old has been consistently brilliant for them in midfield.

Now, Rice has joked that there is another position he would like to play in where he would do a magnificent job.

Declan Rice says he would score over 20 goals as a striker for Arsenal

Rice is a complete footballer.

The Englishman often gets a lot of plaudits for his work off the ball as a defensive midfielder when he plays there, but he is magnificent in possession as well.

The former West Ham man has a fantastic right foot. His passing is very impressive and he has shown that he can score a variety of goals too.

That is perhaps why he thinks he can do a great job as a striker if Mikel Arteta changes things up and gives him an opportunity up front.

In a video released by Arsenal on their social channels, several players were asked about the one position they could pick if they were given the option for one game.

Rice replied: “Number nine! Big target man!”

When the Arsenal number 41 was asked how many goals he would score if he played up top, he said: “A season? 20 plus!”

How Declan Rice is humiliating pundits at Arsenal

Rice may have his ambitions about playing higher up the pitch one day, but we just can’t see Arteta ever throwing him up top.

However, the one thing the Arsenal manager deserves huge credit for is for making Rice much more productive in attack. That is something many people questioned about him.

Against Sporting, the Englishman registered his 20th goal contribution since joining Arsenal, which is a phenomenal return for a midfielder.

By doing so, Rice has humiliated pundits like Roy Keane for doubting his ability to contribute to goals and assists at Arsenal.
