Manchester United have been handed a double injury boost ahead of their FA Cup semi-final with Coventry City, but have also suffered a fresh fitness scare for the match.

Erik ten Hag’s side are back in action when they face the Championship side at Wembley Stadium this weekend and are well aware they will need an improvement from their recent run of results.

There is at least some good news ahead of the match, with Antony and Scott McTominay both set to be involved in the matchday squad after their recent lay-offs. However, Harry Maguire faces a late fight to be fit enough to start the match. Maguire suffered an injury in last weekend’s draw with Bournemouth and missed training at the start of the week as a result of it.

Asked for the latest team news, Ten Hag told reporters: “Antony and Scott (McTominay) I expect them to be back. Scott didn't train all week, partial on Wednesday, today I expect him full. Antony did train all week.”

When pressed on whether or not there had been any further injury setbacks, he added: “We have some problems. Harry had a small injury he didn't train this week so far but now he is back on the pitch, we expect him to be back for Sunday, I hope.”

United will be favourites to defeat their lower league opponents this weekend, but Ten Hag insists his side won’t underestimate Coventry. He added: “We did our job, we are prepared and we know their team, how they play, the individual abilities of the players and we know the manager, he's doing a fantastic job over there so we know a lot about them.

“Of course they are dangerous, they are in the semi-final, then it's logical, last season they were that far away from promotion to the Premier League so they do a fantastic job over there and we have seen the game against Wolves in the quarter-final, the mentality is fabulous. We have to play to our best levels.”
