Alan Shearer and Harry Redknapp believe Arsenal will come away from London Stadium with all three points on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s side travel across the capital to take on West Ham in the Saturday evening kick-off knowing a win will take them up to second in the Premier League. The Hammers go into the fixture on the back of a 2-0 win away at Newcastle so should be full of confidence.
That may not matter according to Redknapp, however, who believes the likes of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka should have enough quality to beat West Ham, with the former Tottenham manager predicting a 2-1 Arsenal win. Speaking to football betting site BetVictor, Redknapp said: “This should be a good one. I didn’t see West Ham’s win at Newcastle coming, that was a big surprise. I thought West Ham were superb defensively and always posed a threat on the break, Jarrod Bowen was superb.
“Arsenal look like they’ve turned a corner and arrive here fresh off that brilliant performance in Portugal. Liverpool obviously have a healthy lead but Arsenal are still right in this title race, particularly with Martin Odegaard now fully fit. I think Arsenal will edge this, but it might be a nervy one.”
Asked for his one to watch, Redknapp added: “It’s got to be Martin Odegaard, what a top player. Arsenal’s performances are night and day when he’s fit and at his best.”
Shearer, meanwhile, agrees with Redknapp, with the former Newcastle man highlighting the Gunners forward line as their main threat. Speaking to Betfair, Shearer said: “It was a great result for West Ham on Monday. I was really impressed with the way they nullified Newcastle and Wan-Bissaka did really well. I thought Max Kilman was superb.
“We saw Arsenal’s result in the Champions League and now going to West Ham, I think they’ll have too much quality in forward positions and will take the three points.”
Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson is also backing Arsenal to come away with all three points. In his weekly Paddy Power column, Lawrenson said: “Arsenal will win this.
“I think they pose a bigger threat to Liverpool’s title hopes than Manchester City to be honest. They’re all back and fit, they had a good result in midweek, and I see them kicking on now. West Ham 0-3 Arsenal.”
