There is little question that Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are two modern day Liverpool legends.
The pair achieved amazing things together and individually while at the club, winning just about everything they possibly could.
However, while Salah continues to remain at the top of his game, Mane has declined markedly since leaving Anfield in 2022.
A move to Bayern Munich failed to go to plan and the Senegalese eventually left after just one season, joining Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
And as Salah weighs up the possibility of leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, Mane is proving something of a cautionary tale.
There were always rumblings that Mane and Salah did not get along brilliantly during their time together at Liverpool.
The two players often vied for headline status in the first-team squad, with Mane perhaps feeling outshone by the Egyptian on occassion.
However, since the former No.10’s exit, their careers couldn’t have been more stark.
And now, according to the Liverpool ECHO, Salah is viewing Mane’s trajectory as a reason not to head to Saudi Arabia to continue his career.
They claim that Salah is now ‘desperate’ to extend his stay at Liverpool beyond the end of this season.
The ECHO report being told that ‘Salah doesn’t want to be like Sadio in Saudi Arabia, even if it means more money’ by sources close to the Egpytian.
