Bruno Fernandes missed Manchester United's clash with Crystal Palace on Monday night because of injury.
The Portugal international suffered an issue after United's draw with Burnley last time out and did not recover in time to feature at Selhurst Park. It marks the first in his club career that Fernandes has ever missed a match due to an injury issue.
During his time at the club, Fernandes has only not taken part in just 13 out of a possible 243 matches. Four of those were because of suspension, four because he was rested altogether in dead-rubbers, three in which he was an unused substitute and one because of illness, as well as the injury.
Fernandes' injury blow is another huge setback for Erik ten Hag in a season that has now seen 64 separate cases of injury or illness that have caused a senior player to miss a competitive match during the campaign. Scott McTominay has also missed out on a place in the squad after failing in his late bid to be involved.
Ten Hag has named six teenagers in the squad with Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Harry Amass, Habeeb Oguneye, Louis Jackson and Ethan Wheatley all involved.
United XI: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Evans, Dalot; Mainoo, Eriksen, Mount; Antony, Garnacho, Højlund
Subs: Bayindir, Heaton, Amass, Jackson, Ogunneye, Amrabat, Collyer, Amad, Wheatley
