Manchester United receive 'significant' Jadon Sancho bonus as £60m target set to leave current club

Your round-up of the latest Man Utd stories ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City.

Manchester United will hope to strengthen their only remaining chance at silverware when they face Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday. Erik ten Hag’s side will hope a change of competition brings victory, following four winless Premier League games.

Coventry will provide a major challenge come Sunday but United will hope their top-flight quality can put them into a second straight FA Cup final. In the meantime, ManchesterWorld has rounded up some of the latest headlines to come out of Old Trafford.

Sancho bonus

United will receive a financial boost after seeing their on-loan winger Jadon Sancho progress into the Champions League semi-finals with Borussia Dortmund. The Manchester Evening News reports that a ‘significant’ bonus has already been activated as a result.

Dortmund booked their place in the last-four after beating Atletico Madrid 4-2 in their quarter-final second-leg on Tuesday, securing a dramatic 5-4 aggregate victory. They face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

United received an initial fee of around £3million to loan out Sancho with a further £3.4m of potential add-ons. The report suggests part of the latter amount will head to Old Trafford, with more potentially on the way if Dortmund progress into the final.

Sudakov race

United are among five Premier League teams thought to be interested in Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov. The Standard reports that Sudakov is expected to leave the Ukrainian side this summer with a host of top clubs eyeing a move.

Shakhtar officials are said to have been in London this week as they prepare for a summer in which they fully expect to sell Sudakov. The 14-capped Ukrainian international has been almost ever-present with his club this season and is widely regarded as the country’s next big talent.

Napoli had a £34m bid for the 21-year-old rejected in January and any move in the summer could now cost £60m. As well as United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are also admirers of the Ukrainian international.
