Supercomputer predicts final Championship table with Leeds United shock and Sheffield United twist

Things are hotting up at the top of the Championship

Pascal Struijk cut a dejected figure after Leeds United's defeat to Millwall

Fourteen matches into the 2024/25 season and no one is running away with the Championship. Just four points separate the top three clubs.

Burnley, relegated from the Premier League last term, went toe-to-toe with promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion last night. Neither the Clarets nor WBA have performed particularly well in recent weeks.

As for the Leeds United, they came unstuck at Millwall on Wednesday. Japhet Tanganga sentenced United to their first league defeat since mid-September. The visitors monopolised possession and created more chances than the Lions but lacked cutting edge in the final third.

Speaking to LUTV post-match, winger Daniel James said: "It's tough to take. I thought we dominated a lot of the game, unfortunately we didn't come away with anything today.

"We knew it was a tough one coming into it and we conceded from a set piece which is obviously disappointing and I thought we went on to create chances, we just couldn't get the ball over the line and we've just got to bounce back from this now on Saturday."

United welcome Queens Park Rangers to Elland Road tomorrow afternoon in their final fixture before the November international break. They are third, four points shy of table-topping Sunderland. Black Cats boss Regis le Bris was left unimpressed with their performance in their goalless draw at Preston North End in midweek.

“We are not happy because this was not the performance that we wanted to execute today but, in the end, it is a point,” he said.

Championship Supercomputer has predicted Leeds United to finish third

Sheffield United leapfrogged the Whites in the table after coming-from-behind to beat Bristol City on Tuesday. "I didn't think it was a smash and grab; we just needed to raise our levels at half-time and we couldn't so we made some changes," said Blades chief Chris Wilder. "I thought we started playing in the last 20 minutes after we went 1-0 down. Credit to the players, it's nothing to do with myself or the coaching staff, the players put themselves in that position through decision making."

After the latest round of fixtures, Csbd.gg's Championship supercomputer has tipped Sunderland to win the title and for Burnley to finish second. Leeds have been backed to come third with 91 points. WBA, Sheffield United and Millwall are expected to join Leeds in the play-offs.

QPR, Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth have been tipped to go down.
