Mohamed Salah appears to be in Liverpool's plans for the moment after being included in promotional material for their new kit.

The Reds launched their 2024/25 home shirts on Thursday with Nike taking inspiration from the 1983/84 season. The Anfield side won a Division One, European Cup and League Cup treble in a legendary term.

The kit features the club’s You'll Never Walk Alone motto etched into the fabric of the shirt in a chrome yellow pattern. The collar is home to traditional yellow and red details as a nod to the 1984 team and on the reverse of the shirt sits the 97-emblem on the nape of the neck.

The promotional video sees Harvey Elliott sat on a parked scooter before transitioning to Salah amidst a backdrop of an Italian-influenced theme. The Humming Chorus from Giacomo Puccini’s Madame Butterfly soundtrack plays in homage to Joe Fagan's side lifting the European Cup in Rome.

Speculation has mounted over Salah's future following his touchline conflict with Jurgen Klopp last weekend and the Egyptian has just one year remaining on his contract.

The forward said there would be ' fire ' if he spoke following the game but it had been suggested both parties planned to continue together. The 31-year-old's prominent inclusion would hint that is the case.

Liverpool's new jersey has already proved divisive with the replica shirt price of £80 coming in for criticism, while the collar has also appeared to disgruntle fans. "Love the pin stripes but that collar is horrible. Ugh." one supporter fumed as another noted: "Love everything but the collar."

One commenter asked: "Why did they give up on the neckline and just stick a straight edged piece of fabric over it? That’s an awful finish imo."

Virgil van Dijk has said he's very pleased with the new kit however. The Dutch defender, who also has just over a year remaining on his deal, was happy with the retro styling.

He said: "I’m a big fan of our new kit for next season and love the fact we’re bringing the retro vibe back. We are a club built on history and the 1984 team was one of our most successful ever. I’m sure our fans will appreciate the nod to those club legends."
