Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson conceded his first goal of the season as the Reds lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

Callum Hudson-Odoi shocked Anfield with his 72nd-minute goal to help Forest secure a historic win over Liverpool.

The loss is a reality check for Arne Slot, who had previously been flying high at Liverpool with three wins from three.

Moreover, the Reds hadn’t conceded a single goal in those victories against Ipswich, Brentford and Man United.

But their perfect Premier League record can now be forgotten about after a hugely disappointing display on home soil.

Alisson lays down Liverpool blame in Nottingham Forest loss

The winning goal came via a devastating Forest counter-attack, with Hudson-Odoi cutting in past Conor Bradley before bending an effort beyond Alisson.

Liverpool’s number one has now shared his verdict on the goal and indeed the overall performance from his side.

“We didn’t manage to play better – when we made the subs – with the ball,” said Alisson, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“We didn’t create so many clear chances. Because they defended really well but also a little bit of poor football from our side today.

“We didn’t adapt quick enough. We conceded three counter-attacks before we conceded a goal on a counter-attack. We should defend it better in those situations.

“Hudson-Odoi had too much freedom to do whatever he wanted with the ball, dribbling inside and shooting. It was poor defending from us.”

Arne Slot gets it wrong as Liverpool suffer shock Anfield defeat

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo certainly got every decision right at Anfield, from his approach to his substitutions.

The boss brought on the match-winner in the 54th minute, with his fellow substitute Anthony Elanga grabbing the assist.

Conversely, Slot simply got it wrong, with the manager having made a triple substitution on the hour mark.

His side conceded not long after, with two of those changes in Darwin Nunez and Bradley both at fault for the goal.

Nunez lost the ball much too easily before Forest broke free, with Bradley giving Hudson-Odoi far too much space and time to find the back of the net.

Fellow substitutions Gakpo, Kostas Tsimikas and Curtis Jones meanwhile all failed to impress from the bench.
