Best five Liverpool home kits ever as Nike launches first jersey of Arne Slot era for 2024/25

Liverpool has had some beautiful home jerseys over the years. It's not a bad effort from Nike for 2024/25, with Arne Slot set for a stylish start to his reign.

It's that time of the season. Nike has launched its new Liverpool home kit, presumably ready for an outing on the last day of the Premier League season — in this case, the last ever match under Jürgen Klopp.

In less emotional but nonetheless noteworthy news, this will also be the last Liverpool home jersey that Nike designs for the foreseeable future, with the Reds set to switch over to Adidas from the 2025/26 season.

The away and third strips will follow in due course, and will comprise the uniforms for the first season under Arne Slot, should his appointment be confirmed as expected. However nice or otherwise a kit is, it tends to be remembered based on how the team performs on the pitch, so the Dutchman will hope that this final Nike offering goes down in club folklore.

The home jersey has given itself a chance of doing that, with some fairly distinct design features given that anyone coming in to design Liverpool's strip has a relatively specific shade of block red to work with as a given. We'll take a look at that in more detail, while also ranking the best five home kits from the club's illustrious history.

There's no chance any new jersey could crack the top five without first gaining some kind of on-pitch heritage. But the new offering from Nike has every chance of making future lists, with an ambitious design that actually tries to do something. It's very easy to play safe with Liverpool home kits. But this is a bit different, with stylized yellow lines a nod to the pinstripes of the kit worn in 1984's European Cup triumph.1 of 6

A testimony to the theory that success is truly what makes a good kit. Liverpool finally won the Premier League wearing this effort from New Balance, and it has a special place in the club's history as a result. It's also a nice jersey in its own right. Like the latest Nike number, it makes use of pinstripes, as well as some yellow/gold detailing.2 of 6
