A Derry cricketer has been selected as part of the British and Irish 11 to compete in the European Cricket Weston Shield.
The competition is set to take place in Malaga Spain this week, and James Wilson has been selected to be part of the squad.
A European XI are the first opponents for the Brigade Cricket Club, with the match set to take place on February 19.
Across the rest of the week, Wilson and the British and Irish team will face an Asian XI and World XI, with the hope of being crowned champions, meaning they will reclaim the title they won last year.
Brigade Cricket Club took to Facebook to post their support for their player as he prepares to play in Spain.
They said: “
“We are incredibly proud to announce that Josh Wilson has been selected for the British/Irish 11 to compete in the European Cricket Weston Shield, kicking off tomorrow in Spain!
“This is a huge achievement, and we can’t wait to see him shine on the international stage!
“Go well Josh.”
