Inter Milan sign Mehdi Taremi

Inter Milan have made their first major move by securing Mehdi Taremi (88 goals in 178 matches for FC Porto). The announcement came from Inzaghi himself, revealing a steal that could have cost his club €10 million.

The summer transfer window hasn’t officially opened yet, but the exciting signings are already making waves. Inter Milan have practically confirmed the signing of Portuguese-born Mehdi Taremi, originally from Iran. The 31-year-old striker is nearing the end of his contract with FC Porto, the current third-placed team in the Portuguese league, having joined them in 2020 from Rio Ave.

This transfer comes at no cost, as stated by the Nerazzurri’s coach. Although Taremi’s market value once peaked at €20 million, he is now valued at €10 million. However, since he will be a free agent as of June 30th, the Milan club has beaten the competition by offering him a contract, which, according to his future coach Simone Inzaghi, he has accepted.

The Italian coach confirmed the impending arrival of the striker, stating: “Yes, we have signed Mehdi Taremi on a free transfer from Porto.” Journalist Fabrizio Romano shared the news on his X account last Saturday. This is disappointing news for Marseille, which had shown interest in signing the Bouchehr-born player.
