‘Good Signing’ ‘We Need More Experience’ Fans React As Romano Says “Chelsea Remain Keen” On Buying £43M Striker

Chelsea are the team most likely to make an offer for RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano

Arsenal and Manchester United have also been scouting the Slovenian international but, writing in his Daily Briefing column, Romano said the Blues have been long-term admirers of the player:

“I’ve also always mentioned one club specifically, and that’s Chelsea. Chelsea remain keen on Sesko but they still have to decide how much they want to invest on a striker.”

“In any case, Leipzig expect that something could happen this summer with Sesko, so let’s see what’s going to happen. Chelsea have been tracking Sesko for more than two years, but also names like Victor Osimhen are there.”

Most fans on X would back a move for Sesko, although some have questioned his age and lack of experience:

Sesko has a release clause in his contract

Reports in the German media have suggested that the 20-year-old can be signed for around €50m (£43m) in the next transfer window due to a buyout fee.

That figure may tempt Chelsea, who need to keep their finances in line with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. Alternatives such as Victor Osimhen, in particular, could cost more than double that amount.

Will Sesko solve Chelsea’s goalscoring problems?

The Slovenian has hit the back of the net 15 times in 39 appearances for Leipzig so far this season. If you compare those numbers to the Blues’ current no.9 Nicolas Jackson, there isn’t a great deal of difference between the pair.

In the exact same number of games, the Senegalese international has scored 13, only two fewer than Sesko.
