A Liverpool player who joined the club back in 2018 could depart next month having not played a single match.

It is set to be another transitional summer for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp to depart at the end of the current campaign and be replaced at the helm by Feyenoord boss Arne Slot.

Moreover, long-serving centre-back Joel Matip is also tipped to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract, while there is uncertainty surrounding the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who both have a year remaining on their lucrative deals.

Elsewhere, one player, who signed for the club some six years ago is also on the cusp of leaving, despite having not made a single outing for Liverpool.

In 2018, the Merseyside club completed the signing of defender Anderson Arroyo from Colombian side Fortaleza after he impressed at the U20s South American Youth Championship.

He has since spent time out on loan at several clubs, yet to receive a work permit to play in England.

The 23-year-old, who can play at centre-back and right-back, moved to La Liga 2 side Mallorca on an 18-month loan deal upon joining the Reds. He was assigned to the B team during his spell at the club.

That deal was cancelled soon after, with the defender joining Belgian giants Gent. However, he did not make an appearance for the club.

Further loan spells followed at Czech Republic side Mlada Boleslav, and Spanish third-tier club Salamanca. He then moved up a division in Spain for the 2021/22 season, joining Mirandes.

In turn, it came as something of a surprise when, as per Liverpool FC, the Colombian signed a new contract in 2022 that would keep him at the club until next summer.

Upon signing that deal he joined Spanish second-division side Alaves on loan and has made 22 appearances for them, helping them secure promotion back to La Liga.

He spent the first half of this term playing for FC Andorra, before moving to Burgos CF in the Spanish second tier in January. At Burgos he has made 21 appearances, scoring once, with the side sitting mid-table in La Liga 2.

It is uncertain what the future holds for Arroyo, but given the player has not yet featured for the Colombian national side or in one of Europe’s top five leagues, he still does not qualify to play for Liverpool.

The club could send him out on another loan or look to cash in, with the player entering the final year of his contract.
