Manchester City have just scouted £35m Chelsea player, he regrets staying at the club last summer

Chelsea and Manchester City did business during the last summer transfer window, and it looks like they could do some more in the next one.

Chelsea sold Mateo Kovacic to their Premier League rivals before signing Cole Palmer from them.

Bringing in Palmer from City has proven to be excellent business.

The attacker has been their best player this season, coming up with 36 goal contributions in 40 appearances.

However, it looks like City could now target one of Chelsea’s young players.

Manchester City have scouted Chelsea player

It has not been a good season for Chelsea, but they still have some very good footballers in their squad and out on loan.

That includes Ian Maatsen, who joined Borussia Dortmund on a temporary deal back in January.

He started Dortmund’s 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals last night and according to TBR Football, City had scouts in attendance to watch him.

Maatsen has really impressed at the German club. Since arriving there, he has made 14 appearances in the Bundesliga, scored one goal and registered two assists.

The 22-year-old has also netted in the Champions League on one occasion.

Ian Maatsen could be Manchester City’s Cole Palmer revenge

Given how well Palmer has done in the Premier League this season, there must be at least one or two people at City who are disappointed with the club’s decision to sell him.

However, Maatsen is showing at Dortmund right now that he is also a very talented player.

City may be able to even things up by snatching the Dutchman, who has a £35m release clause, away from Chelsea this summer.

Maatsen recently admitted in an interview that he has regrets about remaining at Stamford Bridge last summer. You would now expect him not to make the same decision this time around, which would give City an opportunity to snap up the left-back when the transfer market opens again.
