Chelsea look likely to make a serious push for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.
It has been claimed that the Blues have already reached out to Napoli to see if a player-plus-cash deal, involving Romelu Lukaku, is possible.
However, former Napoli sporting director Carlo Jacomuzzi would like to see another Chelsea star included in any potential deal that would see Osimhen move to Stamford Bridge.
It is no surprise that the 25-year-old is on Chelsea’s radar. He is having another good season at Napoli.
In 30 appearances, Osimhen has scored 17 goals, with most of them coming in Serie A.
With Lukaku, of course, being a centre-forward, having him included in the Osimhen deal makes sense.
Jacomuzzi, however, thinks Napoli should ask for Mykhailo Mudryk instead.
Speaking to Kiss Kiss Napoli, Jacomuzzi said: “At Chelsea anything can happen this summer. I wouldn’t be surprised if Napoli get the clause for Osimhen. At the moment the Chelsea coach has not yet been chosen, but from the point of view of money at Chelsea they have no problem.
“Lukaku as a quid pro quo? I would ask them for Mudryk in exchange for Osimhen.”
If it took that to convince Napoli to sell Osimhen for less than his release clause, then it should not be ruled out.
Chelsea spent big money on Mudryk, paying an initial £62m fee, which could rise to £89m, for the winger.
However, despite being one of the club’s most expensive ever purchases, things have not quite worked out for him at Stamford Bridge.
For example, in total, the Ukrainian has scored just six goals in 39 appearances. It is not enough, especially when you look at what Cole Palmer has been doing on the opposite flank.
Mudryk is still 23, so Chelsea do not need to be in a rush to get rid of him. You would expect him to improve in the future. But if the Ukraine international heading to Napoli is what is needed to get Osimhen over the line, then the Blues should not be against the idea of it.
