Following Leeds United’s relegation last summer, a plethora of players left Elland Road in a number of different ways both permanently and on loan.
Victor Orta’s relegation loan clause allowed some Leeds players to jump ship quickly if a club was willing to pay wages. It saw eight senior stars leave Elland Road on loan, preventing Leeds from raising funds.
Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen went to Roma, while Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson and Robin Koch moved to Germany. Luis Sinisterra and Jack Harrison secured an instant Premier League return.
Marc Roca moved to Spain with Real Betis, but he is expected to return to Elland Road in the summer. Sinisterra and Koch have since earned permanent moves to both Bournemouth and Frankfurt respectively.
Tyler Roberts, Tyler Adams and Rodrigo left permanently for a fee, while Adam Forshaw and Joel Robles were invited back to Leeds for pre-season but without a new deal and therefore, they were free agents.
Neither took up that invitation and Forshaw went to Norwich before joining Plymouth while Robles has moved to Saudi Arabia with second-tier side Al-Qadsiah and the goalkeeper is enjoying a brilliant season.
Starting the season with Robbie Fowler as manager until late October, Al Qadsiah were expected to be in the running for Saudi Arabia’s second tier after signing Andre Carillo, Mbaye Diagne and Max Power.

Despite Fowler’s exit, Al-Qadsiah have gone on to secure promotion to the Saudi Pro League where they will take on the likes fo Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr and Neymar’s Al-Hilal next season, in the top tier.
Robles took a step closer to the title this week after 2-2 draw against Ohod secured promotion. With three games to play, they sit nine clear and have a better goal difference of 10 compared to second.
Al-Qadsiah will almost certainly be crowned champions unless they lose all three remaining league games, second-placed Al Kholood win their last three matches and there is a swing of 10 goals.
Robles has been excellent for Al-Qadsiah following his Leeds exit which came as a little surprise given he started ahead of Illan Meslier for the last four Premier League games under manager Sam Allardyce.
The 33-year-old has played 31 times during the 2023-24 campaign, keeping an impressive 14 clean sheets and conceding only 27 goals as Robles and Al-Qadsiah close in on the Saudi second-tier title.
