Jürgen Klopp will soon be leaving Liverpool and it feels like the end of an era beyond just the one at Anfield. The German will be a loss to the Premier League even though the English top flight has the best collection of coaches of any league in the world.

With Klopp gone, a new Reds coach, Arne Slot, will aim to put himself at the very top end of the Premier League coaching stakes alongside the likes of Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta. Liverpool hopes that it has found the next big thing in management.

But according to the German outlet Kicker, Bayern Munich, despite the fact that it has been rejected by Ralf Rangnick and Julen Lopetegui among others already ahead of the summer, is dreaming of re-hiring Guardiola. The Manchester City boss is under contract until 2025 but it is said that there are 'whispers' that he could be an option to replace Thomas Tuchel.

If it wins its final matches of the Premier League season, Manchester City will win a fourth consecutive league title. But Guardiola has shown no signs of wanting to move on. Quite the opposite, in fact: when he signed a two-year contract extension last year, he suggested that he could even stay beyond 2025.

Guardiola previously admitted that he felt he 'failed' at Bayern by not winning the Champions League while with the German giant, which means he could perhaps be tempted to go back and rectify that at some point. He also still owns an apartment in Munich.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl said after the 3-1 defeat by Stuttgart last weekend: "In life, it's sometimes surprising: doors close, you're disappointed beyond measure. And all of a sudden, doors open that you thought three weeks ago were impossible."

Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen sit 15 points ahead of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga as things stand. If Leverkusen avoids defeat in its final two games of the campaign, it will become the first German side to go a full season unbeaten.
