Troubled Queens Park Rangers will be without their best attacking player for tomorrow's trip to Leeds United. Ilias Chair is set to miss the trip to West Yorkshire, having suffered a knee injury in their heavy home loss to Middlesbrough in midweek.
Speaking to the media yesterday afternoon, head coach Marti Cifuentes admitted Chair will be out of action for "weeks". “It seems that there is some injury in his knee, but the length and specifics of the injury I cannot tell you (until more is known)," said Cifuentes.
“I don’t want to say more than I should until I get the final results, but I will say that it looks like weeks. How many, I cannot tell you at the moment.”
The R's will also be without Jake Clarke-Salte, Karamoko Dembele, Michael Frey, Kenneth Paal and Morgan Fox due to injury as they go in search of just a second Championship win of the season. Harrison Ashby, though, could feature against third-placed Whites.
Cifuentes, whose side are second-from-bottom, four points shy of safety, is refusing to blame their lengthy injury list for their poor run of form. He said: “The reality is we have a lot of injuries unfortunately and that is punishing us a lot because we are missing a lot of important players. But my job is to work with the guys that are available and get the best out of them.
“No doubt that all teams in the league when they have an injury crisis like we do at the moment where we have eight or nine players out will suffer, but that is the reality of where we are. We need to make sure we make the best of it
