West Ham United desperately need to sign a top-class new left-back in the summer window.
The upcoming summer transfer window will present West Ham with a great opportunity to address a real problem position.
It doesn’t matter whether David Moyes is still here in the summer or not, all that does matter is getting the addition of a young, pacy full-back over the line before the start of next season.
Emerson Palmieri has been great for the Hammers but he’ll be 30 soon, and he needs more quality competition and cover.
Aaron Cresswell will seemingly be leaving on a free transfer this summer, whilst Ben Johnson is apparently set to join Crystal Palace.
And now it seems like West Ham could finally be set to sign a proper modern day full-back…
The Hammers are on the hunt to sign one of the most highly talented left-backs on the continent this summer it seems.
However, we will reportedly face very strong competition from a handful of other clubs for his signature.
According to a report from Estadio Deportivo, West Ham are one of numerous clubs in for Real Betis left-back Juan Miranda.
During a loan spell with Schalke, the official Bundesliga website described the 24-year-old as a ‘remarkable’ left-back.
In 21 La Liga appearances for Manuel Pellegrini managed Betis this season, Miranda has averaged 1.5 tackles, one interception and 2.3 clearances per match (Who Scored).
He is very quick indeed and has energy and dynamism in abundance.
If West Ham sign the Spanish left-back from Betis this summer, it will be a great bit of business for us. He’ll certainly provide strong competition and cover for Emerson.
