Photos that have appeared on social media claiming to show the Tottenham Hotspur home shirt for next season have gone down well even if they do bring back memories of one painful season.

Earlier this week the colour scheme for the 2024/25 season's home Nike kit for Spurs emerged with the news that the sleeve cuffs would have navy white striping on them and the shorts would return to navy after being all white this season. Now a series of photos - shown in the gallery below - have emerged on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, showing what is claimed to be the home shirt and it comes with a little twist not seen for almost 20 years, which has gone down well on the whole with those supporters who have seen the images.

That change is navy sleeves and Tottenham have not had full navy sleeves on their white home shirt since the 2005/06 season under Martin Jol when they wore Kappa shirts, which also had a navy trim down the sides of the trunk of the top. That season did bring back European football to the north London club for the first time in years but also ended with the infamous 'Lasagne-gate' game at West Ham when a sickness bug struck the Spurs squad on the eve of that final game and they ended losing and missing out on Champions League qualification. More recently the north London side had a touch of navy on the shoulders of the sleeves of their home shirt in the 2020/21 season.

The series of images of what is claimed to be the next Tottenham home shirt was posted online by Cabby's Collection and it looks like a smart new Nike shirt, with the navy sleeves and collar and also a navy trim down the side of the trunk as the 2005/6 shirt had. The collar is an overlap one, which Nike have used for a number of new national team kits this year.

Spurs signed their big-money deal with Nike way back in 2017 and then extended it the following year to a 15-year agreement which will last until at least 2033, meaning it is one of the longest football club deals in the sportswear giant's history. Reports at the time suggested the agreement was worth around £30million a season for the north London outfit.

Tottenham normally release their new home shirt in either June or July, in time for their lucrative summer tours abroad, but they might well attempt to bring out the home kit earlier this time around to coincide with their post-season friendly in Melbourne against Newcastle later next month.
