Liam Delap signs, Mathys Tel deal, Nkunku sold - Chelsea dream end to transfer window revealed

We have just over two weeks remaining of the 2025 January transfer window and it is set to be a busy one for Chelsea

Liam Delap is of interest to Chelsea this month

Before the start of the January transfer window, sources close to Chelsea told football.london to expect a relatively quiet month in terms of business at Stamford Bridge.

Seventeen days into January, and while we are yet to see an incoming for the Blues, it has certainly not been quiet. If you're an avid social media user, then you would have undoubtedly seen some of the speculation surrounding Chelsea, whose slump in form has coincided with the transfer window opening.

Chelsea are winless in their last five Premier League matches, with their last three points coming on December 15 against Brentford. And when that happens, supporters tend to see red and call for the club to make some signings.

So, with that said, while we enter the second half of the transfer window, football.london takes a look at the 'dream' scenario for Chelsea between now and the deadline on February 3...

Striker signs

As mentioned above, Chelsea have been below-par in recent matches in the Premier League. In fact, the Blues have only scored four goals from their last 85 shots in the top-flight. Nicolas Jackson has come under scrutiny because of his recent performances, with the Senegalese striker without a goal in more than a month.

However, it is not solely Jackson's fault. Chelsea need to sign another striker to provide support and competition to the Blues' No.15. Marc Guiu, while having bags of potential, is seemingly not trusted in the Premier League just yet, judging by his two top-flight appearances this season.

Several strikers have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. The likes of Viktor Gyokores, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen are all names that have been mentioned in recent months. Likewise, Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has been strongly linked with a move to SW6.

football.london understands Chelsea are long time admirers of Delap, who has been superb for the Tractor Boys in the Premier League this term. The 21-year-old, who scored in Ipswich's 2-0 win over Chelsea last month, has eight goals and two assists to his name in 20 Premier League appearances since the start of the campaign.

It will not be easy to take Delap away from Ipswich this month, nor will it be cheap. Adding another striker for Enzo Maresca to choose from could well be the difference between now and the end of the season for the Blues.

Nkunku resolution

Christopher Nkunku has been heavily linked with an exit from Chelsea in this transfer window. football.londonunderstands Bayern Munich hold a serious interest in the 27-year-old, who has been a bit-part player in the Premier League for the west Londoners this term.

Bayern have held talks with Chelsea recently with the Blues informing the German club that they will not sell Nkunku for anything less than £60million. In fact, Chelsea are searching for something north of that figure with the club looking at Napoli's pending sale of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain; in a deal believed to be over £60million.

For Chelsea, it is a bit of a win-win. If they keep Nkunku, great; they have a superb player for at least the next few months. With the amount of games coming up for Chelsea between now and the end of the season, including the new-look FIFA Club World Cup in the summer, the France international will undoubtedly get plenty of game time.

However, if the Blues were to sell Nkunku; they will be making profit on the forward, who they brought in for around £52million in the summer of 2023.

Tel signing

When the news broke about Nkunku and how Bayern want him this month, we also learned of Chelsea's interest in Mathys Tel. The Blues made contact with the Bavarian club earlier in the week to discuss the possibility of signing the highly-rated 19-year-old forward.

football.london understands Chelsea will not hesitate to make an offer for Tel should they receive any form of encouragement from Bayern that he could be sold this month. This is not out of the blue from a Chelsea point of view. The west London club actually made a firm enquiry last summer about signing Tel from Bayern but were said to be rebuffed.

Bayern director, Max Eberl, though, played down speculation linking Tel with an exit from the Allianz Arena this month. Speaking to Spox, Eberl said: "Mathys Tel? We're extremely happy with our squad."
