Bukayo Saka says he idolised former Manchester United star who was a ‘goalscoring machine’

Arsenal superstar Bukayo Saka is certainly having a contrasting season to that of Manchester United this season.

Whilst the Red Devils are enduring a torrid campaign under Erik ten Hag, Arsenal are thriving under Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners could very well still win the Premier League this season, with Saka a huge reason as to why. The England international is really starting to show why he is one of the most highly-rated wingers in world football.

It wont come as a surpirse given how good Saka is to find out he emulated his game off a Manchester United legend.

Bukayo Saka idolises Manchester United legend

Saka, although Arsenal through and through, actually admitted in a recent interview with The Telegraph that it’s actually an old Manchester United player who he grew up idolising.

Growing up, the 22-year-old idolised Cristiano Ronaldo. Much like Bukayo, he was a young winger who then strived to become one of the Premier League’s deadliest finishers.

Saka hopes to walk the same path, but he’s got some legacy to live up to if he even weants half the career of Cristiano.

“He [Ronaldo] just exploded and turned into a goalscoring machine,” Saka said. “I think he inspired a lot of players to try to follow in his footsteps. But at the same time I just want to try to be myself, and do what is required to play for Arsenal – and win at Arsenal.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence is crazy

It appears that Ronaldo has an isnane influence on most young footballers nowadays.

At Manchester United alone right now, you have Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund who basically worship the ground beneath the Portuguese footballing icon’s feet.

Ronaldo really is that guy, and he’ll continue to be in the minds of young footballers for years to come.
