Chelsea have endured another tough campaign – and talks are already taking place over a signing as Todd Boehly aims to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues currently find themselves languishing down in ninth in the Premier League, and face a real fight to even secure a UEFA Conference League spot for the 2024/25 season.

As a result, reinforcements are expected at Stamford Bridge this summer as Todd Boehly‘s youthful recruitment drive continues, with negotiations already open regarding a 22-year-old talent…

Chelsea open talks to sign Quilindschy Hartman

Well – according to 1908 in the Netherlands – Chelsea are in talks to sign Quilindschy Hartman.

The Dutch news outlet even claim that the Feyenoord No.5 and his representatives were in attendance as Chelsea suffered a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal recently.

1908 state that Chelsea have scouted Hartman extensively in recent seasons, and he is valued at a sum of around €23m (£20m).

The Netherlands international has made 38 appearances in all competitions for Feyenoord so far this season, providing seven assists from his left-back role.

Hartman also boasts UEFA Champions League experience with six appearances in Europe’s greatest club competition, and more to come next season if he stays with Feyenoord – Arne Slot’s side are currently second in the Eredivisie.

Blues will have to wait

Even if these negotiations have been positive, Chelsea will have to wait to sign Hartman.

1908 mention that the Dutchman has suffered an injury which is expected to keep him sidelined for the remainder of 2024.

Of course, Chelsea could still sign Hartman and allow him to do his rehabilitation in west London, although all signs would point to a deal being more likely to materialise in January 2025 after the injury.

1908 actually state that Chelsea thought they were close to agreeing terms with the man from Zwijndrecht before his injury, but remain interested in sealing a deal at some point.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation – if Hartman’s recovery goes to plan, Chelsea are expected to pick up this negotiation.
