Arsenal’s hunt for a striker is ongoing heading into the January transfer window, with hopes that a deal could be secured in the weeks ahead.
The Gunners have struggled to secure a clinical centre-forward over the past few windows, which could be the difference in the Premier League title race.
With plenty of striker transfer links for Arsenal, the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen are all named as options.
However, one player who could be on the market is Marcus Rashford, who is facing an uncertain future at Manchester United.
Arsenal have previously been linked with Rashford, with a possible opportunity now arising ahead of January.
Despite having just over three years left on his contract at Old Trafford, Rashford could be an early casualty of Ruben Amorim’s tenure at the club.
Manchester United could be forced to make sales ahead of a tricky PSR (profit and sustainability rules) period.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, which claims that the Red Devils have set a transfer price tag of £40million on the forward’s sale.
It comes as a slight surprise, given the 27-year-old would’ve been worth far more just a few years ago.
The report claims that United aren’t anticipating any offers, not least with the huge wages the star is claimed to be on.
However, it presents an opportunity to land a player who has shown his clear quality on his day and may need a change of environment to get the best out of him.
At Arsenal, there may well be a chance to land an absolute bargain to help strengthen the forward ranks moving forward.
It seems highly unlikely that Arsenal would make a move in January, given the difficulty of completing deals over that period in compliance with any financial rules.
However, should a deal become available in the summer, there’s no ruling out what could possibly happen.
The Gunners clearly need strength in depth at the front part of the pitch and in Rashford, he would offer exactly that.

The forward could offer cover across both flanks as well as the centre-forward position, something that is clearly needed.
Whether that justifies a move remains to be seen though, with the possibility of looking elsewhere in the months ahead.
