Manchester United monitoring Jack Grealish situation at Manchester City
Jack Grealish

Manchester United’s season continues to go from bad worse with Brighton the latest side to take a comfortable three points away from Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim’s side look toothless going forward and with just ten days left in the January transfer market, need to get a move on if they are to add to the attacking numbers in the squad.

United are hoping to do business but given the financial restraints they are working under, INEOS need to be creative with any deals they are looking to get over the line before the window slams shut.

As reported by The Mirror, United are eyeing up a shock move for Manchester City star Jack Grealish with the Englishman struggling to make an impact at the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish has started just over half of City’s games this season and may be open to a move to revive his stuttering career.

United are aware of the challenges surrounding the deal with a switch from one side of Manchester to the other causing obvious hurdles.

Furthermore, Grealish has interest from multiple clubs at home and abroad with Borussia Dortmund keen on the player, alongside Newcastle, Aston Villa and Tottenham in the Premier League.

United have not made any formal contact with the City board but are said to be monitoring the situation and would be open to exploring an unlikely deal.

The 29-year-old has suffered for form in the last 12 months with a recent penalty against League Two Salford his solitary goal in that period.

Should United make a move they will be gambling on the forward rediscovering the form he produced at Aston Villa that persuaded City to part with an eye watering £100 million in 2021.

No doubt Pep Guardiola’s system has strangled the creativity out of a player that is naturally gifted and dangerous when given the license to roam and take risks on the ball.

Grealish was regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford before he signed for City with his profile seeming a perfect fit for the bright lights of United.

With United short in attacking areas, particularly given the likelihood of Marcus Rashford leaving in the coming days, Grealish would certainly provide Amorim with another option in his slim-looking front line.

However, after winning all their is to win on a domestic front with City, it would be a brave move to swap blue for red for what will be the last big move of his career.
