The senior Liverpool team may have emphatically put Real Madrid to the sword in the UEFA Champions League, but the corresponding fixture for the U-19s ended in defeat.
Overseen by Pedro Marquez, Julian Ward and Aaron Briggs, the young Reds produced a spirited showing but lost 1-0 as Daniel Yanez scored the solitary goal of the game with a fine effort from the edge of the penalty area.
Nevertheless, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Liverpool as fans took to social media to praise Rio Ngumoha for his performance.
After signing from Chelsea earlier this summer, Ngumoha has made a massive impression at Liverpool and has already trained with the senior team.
The game against Real Madrid was another feather in his cap as he showed flashes of his trickery and guile on the ball.
Ngumoha was in the thick of the action and took the Real Madrid defenders on for fun as he ran rings around them.
He failed to notch up a goal or assist, but it could be argued that some of the Liverpool players let him down in the final third as he played a handful of beautiful passes into the penalty area.
In the second half, the youngster also played a fantastic Trivela pass from the left flank as he continues to prove why Liverpool were so desperate to sign him in the summer.
Ngumoha has been hailed as an exceptional talent and produced one of his best all-round displays in a red shirt against Real Madrid.
And naturally, the Anfield faithful took to social media to lavish praise on his outrageous ability.
Ngumoha is ridiculous. Being doubled and triple teamed by Real Madrid and they still can’t stop him.

On the other side, I’m starting to think that Nyoni’s best role would be lower than I initially expected, like Pedri’s current role. He dictates and progresses play really well.

Ngumoha hasn't had much time on the ball in the first half v. Real. But when he's on the ball, his quality is evident. Irrational movements combined w/ excellent technique make him so hard to handle. Regular minutes and senior experience will turn him into an absolute menace.

There was also a bit of criticism for Ngumoha, with a fan pointing out that he was a tad bit predictable against Real Madrid.
Just after watching the young reds v Real Madrid, some talented young players, it’s the 1st time I’ve watched Ngumoha closely & imo the kid badly needs to work on beating his FB on the outside, he came inside all game & made it easy for the FB & CB, still only 16 though. @LFC
