Jurrien Timber has sent a message of support to Arsenal teammate Mohamed Elneny.

Mohamed Elneny made his long awaited return to first team action with Arsenal in the Gunners’ EFL Cup clash with Brentford on Wednesday evening. The Egyptian midfielder had been sidelined with a serious injury since January.

Elneny came in against the Bees as a second half substitute in the 82nd minute. Although he wasn’t on the pitch for long, the 31-year-old played some eye-catching passes and unleashed one shot from long range which whistled just wide of the post.

With Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, and Jorginho also in Mikel Arteta’s squad, even a fully fit Elneny will struggle for game time when everyone else is available. However, he is a useful player for the manager to have at his disposal, and is a reliable performer when called upon.

Posting on Instagram, Timber celebrated the 93-cap Egypt international’s return. Timber shared some footage of Elneny playing against Brentford, with a simple caption saying “Mo” followed by a praying hands emoji and a red love heart emoji.

When Timber does eventually get back on the pitch for the Gunners, there will be plenty of celebrations then too. The former Ajax man greatly impressed in pre-season and looked set to play a key role for the Gunners throughout this campaign before his cruel injury blow.

As for Elneny, he will now be looking to build on this outing, get back to full fitness, and ensure that he is ready and available to help the team whenever he is called upon this season.
