22-year-old is determined to stay at Chelsea now, he doesn’t want to leave in January
Armando Broja is ‘determined’ to stay at Chelsea and will ignore potential transfer interest in January.
That is according to a report from The Express.
They claim that Armando Broja, 22, is focused on staying at Stamford Bridge and trying to force his way into Chelsea’s starting line-up.
It is understood that Premier League side Fulham are interested in signing the Blues striker in January, but the player’s unlikely to be tempted to leave. There’s been no formal proposal yet from Fulham, too.
The report adds that Chelsea staff do rate the player highly. However, the club are looking into signing another centre-forward in the New Year.
The Daily Mail recently reported that Fulham are considering Broja as a potential target for the January window. They also noted that Chelsea may consider sending the 22-year-old out on loan to give him more minutes.
There’s no doubt that Marco Silva’s Fulham side are crying out for a new No 9, so we’re confident Broja could be a great short-term fix for them on loan. He previously enjoyed success during a loan spell at St Mary’s with Southampton.
However, you’ve got to admire the youngster’s determination to stay at the Bridge and compete for a Chelsea position.
If Broja’s staying in the first-team squad, we’d like to see him get more chances.
The Blues academy graduate is playing second fiddle to Nicolas Jackson right now for the striker role, but you could make a case for his game being more well rounded.
In our view, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino should consider a change this Sunday versus Brighton.
In fairness, The Evening Standard has reported that Pochettino wants to start Broja in the festive run of games coming up.
