Tottenham fans react to Antonio Conte’s press conference rant
Tottenham Hotspur fans expressed their agreement with Antonio Conte in the wake of the manager’s remarkable post-match press conference after the 3-3 draw with Southampton.
After his side sacrificed a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 against struggling Southampton on Saturday afternoon, Conte launched a scathing attack on his ‘selfish’ players that ‘don’t want to help each other’.
It was not only the players that came under fire, with the Italian also appearing to criticise owner Daniel Levy, saying:
Taking to Twitter after what Alasdair Gold described as ‘one of the most remarkable press conferences’ he’s ever been involved in, some Spurs fans appeared to be happy about their manager speaking out against the players and board. They said:
While large parts of Conte’s criticism is probably warranted, given the terrible performance from his side in the latter stages of yesterday’s game, his comments in the press conference must surely bring his time at the club to an end.
To publicly criticise your employer is a very bold move, and doing so perhaps indicates the 53-year-old is looking to be sacked early, rather than waiting to mutually part ways at the end of the season, as recently suggested.
With serial winners like Conte and Jose Mourinho failing to achieve any success with Tottenham, whoever the next manager is will face a very difficult task, and it is a decision Levy must get right.
