A new claim has just been made about West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus by well renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio Romano has lifted the lid on the current contract situation of West Ham attacker Mohammed Kudus.

The 23-year-old has been in sensational form for West Ham with 14 goals and five assists to his name this season (Transfermarkt), and Liverpool are already being linked with signing him.

I actually think he’ll get even better when he’s played in his best position. The Ghanaian recently told David Moyes that he’s most comfortable in the number 10 role.

So can we expect him to be a Hammers for the foreseeable future?

The Athletic’s David Ornstein recently claimed that there is a release clause in Kudus’s contract with the Hammers.

However, sources close to the West Ham owners have refuted that claim, and suggested that that in fact isn’t the case, although a clause could come into effect in 2025.

Now though, Fabrizio Romano has turned everything on its head yet again…

Mohammed Kudus twist as Fabrizio Romano makes fresh claim

Nobody seems to actually know whether there is a release clause in the Ghana international’s contract or not.

It all just seems like speculation really doesn’t it.

Fabrizio Romano is well known for having good sources in high places, and he has just added to the mystery surrounding Kudus.

The Italian football journalist has suggested that the Hammers owners may be keeping the 23-year-old’s release clause quiet, when writing his Daily Briefing column:

“There is no indication about clubs being in the race to sign Mohammed Kudus yet, it’s still early but some sources confirm there might be a release clause into his contract – even if West Ham sources are keeping it quiet and confidential at the moment.”

I guess this is something we won’t know for sure until someone actually comes in with a bid for Kudus.

The former Ajax man has been sensational for the Hammers in his debut campaign at the London Stadium.

Keeping hold of him will be absolutely vital to our hopes of making some genuine progress over the next few years.

Let’s hope that the owners match his ambition off the pitch, and whoever the new manager is does the same on the pitch.

The Mohammed Kudus update from Fabrizio Romano is certainly concerning though, I’m not going to lie.
