Newcastle United aren’t wasting any time in getting to work on their summer transfer targets.

Tosin Adarabioyo is said to be in talks over a move to Newcastle, while private conversations about the signing of Aaron Ramsdale this summer have apparently also taken place.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Newcastle’s summer transfer plans, and he’s stated that Lloyd Kelly is another player Newcastle are confident of signing, claiming that this deal could advance very quickly.

Lloyd Kelly to Newcastle could advance quickly

Romano shared what he knows about the £15m defender.

“Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth, top target and Newcastle are really confident to make it happen. Kelly and Newcastle, the expectation is for the deal to advance really fast in the next weeks,” Romano said.

“From what I’m hearing Kelly is really advanced and negotiations with Tosin Adarabioyo are still ongoing.”

Lloyd Kelly is a smart signing

Lloyd Kelly may not be the type of player you’d expect the richest club in the world to necessarily go after, but he would be a smart signing.

Indeed, a player who is proven in the Premier League on a free transfer is never a bad idea, and one even bigger bonus is the fact that Eddie Howe knows Kelly very well.

Howe worked with Kelly at Bournemouth a few years ago, and the fact that he’s looking to re-sign him for Newcastle would suggest that he rates him very highly.

Capable of playing at either centre-back or left-back, Kelly would solve two problems at once for Newcastle if he were to sign this summer, and, by the sounds of things, he is seemingly en route to a move to St James’ Park.

Newcastle could be about to make a very savvy signing here in the shape of Kelly.
