Hidden Celtic gem gets Euro giants queuing up as Rocco Vata explodes at Watford at last - Parkhead news bulletin

Daniel Cummings is attracting plenty of interest and could leave for compensation this summer

In-demand teen Daniel Cummings is still to confirm where his future lies.

Rapidly rising Celtic star Daniel Cummings is reportedly attracting interest from a host of clubs across Europe.

The 18-year-old has been on fire for the Hoops' B-team so far this season with 23 goals in 21 games across the Lowland League and UEFA Youth League. But despite Brendan Rodgers' public admission that he wants a young striker to step in and provide the third choice behind Kyogo and Adam Idah, Cummings hasn't had a look in, and with his contract up at the end of the season, he may be the latest academy talent to leave for training compensation.

Sky Sports say that Champions League sides Bologna, Club Brugge and RB Salzburg have all sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old striker closely. He's also been linked with Sunderland in the past and will have plenty of options if indeed he does leave on the expiry of his contract, which looks increasingly likely.

Rocco Vata is the cautionary tale in this regard after he left for Watford in the summer, having initially been the player Rodgers earmarked for the third-choice striker role. He's had to wait for his chances but did himself no harm on Wednesday night, coming off the bench to fire in his first goal for the club against Hull in the 88th minute to equalise and earn a point.

Elsewhere Celtic women are still searching for their first Champions League point after they were outclassed by Real Madrid last night.

A double from Signe Bruun and a late third from Alba Redondo gave Madrid a comfortable victory at a freezing New Douglas Park. It means Celtic have now gone five games in the competition without a point to show for their efforts. Elena Sadiku's side will bring the curtain down on their European adventure next Tuesday when they face FC Twente.

Sadiku told Celtic TV: "If you look at this game, (keeper) Kelsey Daugherty doesn't make as many saves as last time. The goals we conceded were too easy. The first was a mistake from our build, the second we should defend that cross much better and the third was from a set play that I think we should control much better.

"We also created much better chances than we did in the last game. It's just frustrating because we should have been better in many parts of the game. Real Madrid deserved to win but we conceded two easy goals. The subs came on with great energy, they changed the game. That was really nice to see but I'm very disappointed we conceded that goal just before the subs.

"The energy they brought Real Madrid would have been more under pressure. This campaign and the experience will give us knowledge of competing at this level. You can see how well the men are doing now in the Champions League but they also have the experience from before. It's a start, we're going to build from here."
