Real Madrid's Sofie Svava has reportedly signed a contract at a top club - with Manchester City & Portland Thorns among probable destinations.
WHAT HAPPENED?
According to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Svava, the talented 23-year-old left-back, is poised to depart the Spanish giants for a new challenge once her contract expires in the summer. Svava has declined to extend her contract with Los Blancos and has already inked a deal with another prominent outfit.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Several top clubs across the globe have expressed interest in securing Svava's services, with City, Lyon, Roma, Thorns and Utah Royals among the suitors - reflecting her stature as one of Europe's most sought-after defensive talents. However, the official announcement is not expected until the end of the ongoing campaign.
WHAT SVAVA SAID
In a recent interview with Bold, Svava expressed her frustrations about limited playing time and hinted at the possibility of departing Real Madrid in search of more regular opportunities elsewhere.
"It probably also has something to do with the fact that I lack a bit of playing time at Real Madrid, but I don't want to go into that too much," she said.
WHAT NEXT FOR SVAVA?
Svava has made 14 appearances in Liga F this season, including eight starts. She will be in action again against Madrid CFF on Sunday in a Liga F encounter.
