Wolves winger Pedro Neto has reportedly been watched by Newcastle United this season – but they are said to have one concern about him.

Neto has been on the sidelines for Wanderers since the end of March, after suffering his second hamstring injury of the season.

It’s been a frustrating campaign for him, but when he has played has certainly shone. In 23 appearances he has scored three goals and made 11 assists. Earlier this season, Molineux legend John Richards hailed him as ‘outstanding’.

He returned to training last week but was not named in Wolves’ squad to face Manchester City on Saturday evening. Fans will be hoping he’ll be available for this weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace.

Failing that, the final game of the season is against Liverpool – and the Portuguese will hope to feature.

A host of clubs have been linked with Neto in recent months, but now it’s being suggested Newcastle are considering a move, but the Magpies are wary about one thing…

Newcastle want to sign a right winger this summer according to the Daily Mail.

Michael Olise of Crystal Palace is on their radar, and Newcastle are also looking at Nico Williams at Athletic Bilbao.

It’s suggested that Wolves star Neto is a player of interest too. But it’s stated ‘there are concerns over the latter’s injury record’.

Neto’s two hamstring injuries this season could end up really costing Wolves if the club do decide to sell him this summer.

Sky reporter Johnny Phillips has said that Neto was valued as much as £80 million previously, but believes Wolves could actually accept around half that figure this summer.

Journalist Alex Crook has also suggested that the player’s injury record could really count against Wolves.

Arsenal, who are long-term admirers of Neto, are also thought to have concerns about his previous injuries.

At the moment, a move to Newcastle for Neto seems unlikely.

However, if the Magpies secure European football then it could well make them more appealing to the player.

One would imagine £50,000-a-week star Neto would prefer to join a Champions League club. But it just depends who comes calling – his injury record is bound to put some top clubs off.

Of course, it is not totally out of the question that Neto stays. Because Rayan Ait-Nouri is someone who is really attracting a lot of interest right now.

If Wolves cash in on Ait-Nouri for big money, that might see the club adopt a stronger stance over Neto. Matt Hobbs has previously said that one big sale would be more preferable than multiple smaller ones.

If Ait-Nouri is that big sale, Neto might stay another season.
