The squabble between Nicolas Jackson, Noni Maduke and later Cole Palmer dominated the discussions as Chelsea produced their best performance to beat Everton 6-0 in the Premier League on Monday night.

Mauricio Pochettino immediately confirmed he’d told the players he was disappointed and confirmed Cole Palmer as the designated penalty taker. Since then, Malo Gusto has told LondonWorld that the issue was blown out of proportion and admitted he liked stuff like that as it showed character.

The French defender said: “No, it’s okay, sometimes this can happen. We are all competitive. Nico wants to score, Noni and Cole as well — it’s normal. It’s important to stay together. That’s what we did tonight with the 6-0, we are very happy and we just want to keep pushing for the rest of the season.”

What Palmer also said

Palmer who was also on television media duty after the game watered down the issue by saying it was all just banter in the dressing room after the final whistle. “I mean we were laughing about it in the dressing room after but I know they wanted to take it and I’m the club’s penalty taker and I wanted to take it too so I took it.”

The 21-year-old Palmer has been sensational since joining Chelsea in the summer, he’s now bagged 20 league goals for the season, incredible for someone who had not scored his first league goal until he joined the Blues on transfer deadline day. The most amusing thing about him is that he just seems unenthusiastic about it and looks like he just enjoys being out there.
