Speaking in her latest column, Brady has revealed rumours linking West Ham with a move for Cole Palmer last summer were indeed true.
Palmer has been the signing of the season in the Premier League for Chelsea.
In an admission that will be hard for West Ham fans to hear, Brady has revealed her club had agreed a deal with Man City to sign Palmer last summer.
But Chelsea came in to snatch him away and the rest, as they say, is history.
In her column on page 69 of The Sun’s print edition on Saturday April 20th, Brady said: “From all the newsreels I’ve seen, Cole is as cool a dude in front of goal as Jimmy Greaves himself.
“Which is probably why David Moyes tried very hard to sign him. We even had a deal agreed with City until Chelsea swooped.”
Someone pass me a bucket please.
Chelsea have been almost entirely reliant on Palmer’s brilliant performances, goals and assists this season.
West Ham go to Palace on Sunday looking to win to stay above the Blues in the fight for a European spot.
And the Hammers should be looking to exact a measure of revenge on Palace because it seems West Ham’s move for Palmer was hijacked because of them.
According to Chelsea News, the fact Crystal Palace shut down a move for Michael Olise saw the Blues launch a late bid to beat West Ham to Palmer.
Just imagine what this West Ham team would have looked like with Palmer in the team.
It’s a mouthwatering prospect. West Ham are challenging for a top six spot without him. So it’s no stretch to suggest the Hammers would have challenged for the top four with him.
Some West Ham fans will be wishing Brady had kept that to herself.
Instead the Hammers ended up with Phillips on loan from Man City in January instead.
And we all know how that has worked out so far.
Palmer alongside Kudus and Jarrod Bowen. What might have been.
