How the French press reacted to Chelsea legend N’golo Kante’s display after being knocked out of Euro 2024

With Euro 2024 in the final stages, one Chelsea player has already booked his place in the final after another strong showing.

Marc Cucurella impressed yet again on the international stage as Spain beat France 2-1 to set up a showdown with one of Netherlands or England on Sunday.

This saw Chelsea legend N’golo Kante exit the competition at the semi-final stage. He had shown everyone what the Blues had been missing for the last 12 months since he left the club.

Some were actually surprised that he was still able to perform at such a high level after spending a whole season away from the top level of European football.

Kante given a 3/10 for France performance

However, this good feeling surrounding him did not seem to last with French media. L’Equipe only awarded him a 3/10 for his performance.

The midfielder’s consistency has been something he is known for ever since he made the move to Stamford Bridge, and this is perhaps why it was so interesting that he was so far off the mark last night.

France had the opportunity to call up a number of current Chelsea players to their squad this summer, however seemed to choose to look a different direction.

France chose not to pick Christopher Nkunku

The likes of Christopher Nkunku and Malo Gusto seemed to reach full fitness before the end of the domestic season, and the former in particular looked as if he could have made a real impact on the toothless frontline that performed this summer.

The right-back has returned to pre-season in good condition after winning the dreaded bleep test, however his chance to make an impact for his country at the Olympics this summer has been restricted by the club as they look to get everyone ready for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
