Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has commented on his future at the club.

Middlesbrough are vying for an 8th place finish in the Championship this season.

It’s down on their 4th place finish last time round, but given injuries and certain shortcomings in the transfer market, it’s been an overall good campaign for Middlesbrough.

There’s concerns over the future of Carrick, though.

He signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the club when he took charge in 2022, with his current deal to set to expire at the end of next season.

But TeessideLive previously revealed that positive talks regarding an extension have already taken place.

And speaking to BBC ahead of the final Championship clash of the season vs Watford this weekend, Carrick was quizzed on his future at the club going into the summer.

He said:

“I love it here. I’m settled here. I’m looking forward to next season; things will get sorted out. We’re all on the same page, we get along, we trust each other… from that side of things there’s no drama.”

And Carrick seemingly committing his future to Middlesbrough has garnered a strong reaction from fans who have really warmed to the former Manchester United man.

He’s earned praise for his tactical nouse and man management, breeding in a new generation of Middlesbrough youngsters whilst making his existing players better.

Here’s what some Boro fans had to say on Carrick’s recent comments…

@jimmythreeshoes: Nothing to dislike about the man. He’s done a great job & he appreciates the time he was given after our shaky start to the season by the fans & the chairman.

@peternew100: For me one best managers in Championship if not the best.

@JYaj: Carrick is best we’ve had for years. Injuries, loans, new signings, sales, he dealt & no doubt learnt from it all. See how Rav, Lathe, Azaz, Rogers etc progressed. That’s not coincidence. It’s a result of everyone being on the same page.

@PhilSpenc23: Great news that Michael Carrick appears set to sign a new contract with Middlesbrough. This season has been far from ideal but how refreshing that fans haven’t been calling for his head. Focus on the long-term, we’re on the right track.

@JamieL_UTB: There was loads of “so-called” fans calling for his head after Stoke away. Thankfully the club and the majority of us know he’s the right man for us.

@MatthewBye13: What a man.

@SmoggyBalboa: If Middlesbrough get Michael Carrick to sign a new contract this summer it will be the best business done in the window.
