Jean-Philippe Mateta is on fire right now for Crystal Palace, and what Eberechi Eze was spotted doing before he scored, says it all.
Crystal Palace did it again on Wednesday, with a dominating 2-0 victory over Newcastle at Selhurst Park.
For Oliver Glasner, it was a third consecutive win and all have come against teams who were inside the top eight which just shows how excellent a job the Austrian is doing.
The star of the show once again for the Eagles was Jean-Philippe Mateta as the Frenchman grabbed a brace to take his season tally to 14.
In doing so, he also made it the fifth consecutive Premier League home game that he’s scored in, which is a record for the club.
As Mateta found the net for the first time in the game, Eberechi Eze was spotted doing something which says it all about the No. 14’s form.
Mateta’s first goal of the night came in the 55th minute courtesy of an excellent piece of link-up play involving Mateta, Jordan Ayew and Eze.
Eze fed the ball to Mateta excellently, to which the Frenchman then played the simplest of one-twos with Ayew to then beat Martin Dubravka.

A really well-worked goal, but it’s Eze’s reaction we want to point out as it says a lot about how confident the team is right now.
Specifically, the confidence that Mateta has given his teammates thanks to his goal-scoring in recent weeks.
Eze was seen with his arms up in celebration before the ball had even left Mateta’s foot, as he was just that confident in his teammate finishing the move off in style.
Six months ago, it’d be hard to imagine Eze would be reacting like this before the goal as Mateta hadn’t given him a reason to have faith.
However, since Glasner arrived at Copers Cope it’s been a completely different story and Mateta now is arguably among the best forwards in the league on recent form.
In fact in Europe’s top five leagues, since Glasner became Palace boss, only Cole Palmer has scored more goals than Mateta.
It says a lot about the impact Glasner has had therefore that Eze is so confident in his striker that he is celebrating goals before they’re scored.
Excellent from both players involved, and we love to see this kind of thing take place.
